Resumo
Atualmente, as organizações buscam cada vez mais competitividade, dentre os diferentes meios utilizados para a sua obtenção, estão as ferramentas de apoio a qualidade. Este artigo apresenta um estudo sobre uma ferramenta de apoio, o FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis). O objetivo é demonstrar o conceito, história, objetivo, tipos de FMEA, além das etapas para a sua implantação. O método utilizado para a realização deste trabalho foi a revisão bibliográfica, sendo feita por meio de livros, artigos científicos, dissertações e sites. Os resultados obtidos demonstram que com base nas falhas, grau de ocorrência destas e suas severidades, consegue-se diagnosticar a situação atual dos processos e propor melhorias. Porém, a ferramenta também possui falhas e cabe a equipe implantadora ameniza-las. Assim, pode-se concluir que o FMEA quando aplicado com rigor e por pessoas capacitadas, auxilia o cumprimento do objetivo de melhoria da qualidade dos sistemas, produtos, processos e serviços.
